Andreas Wellinger Hits Back at Norwegians Regarding Their Version of the Scandal

In the aftermath of the World Championships, disqualifications were handed down to Norwegian athletes due to equipment manipulation. Andreas Wellinger firmly stated in an interview that it is impossible for athletes not to notice such manipulations. He remarked, "As a ski jumper, you immediately sense when your suit has been manipulated. In this case, it’s evident, as a stabilizing seam was added from the leg to the crotch, making the suit stiffer. If someone doesn’t see that, they wouldn’t notice anything at all."
Wellinger further criticized the Norwegian athletes for their lack of transparency, suggesting that they only acknowledge what they cannot deny and are attempting to cover up the situation. He has received support from fellow athletes and experts who share his view.
Following the suit scandal, the FIS temporarily suspended five top Norwegian jumpers: Marius Lindvik, Johann Andre Forfang, Robert Johansson, Robin Pedersen, and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, along with the head coach Magnus Brevig, who admitted to violating dress regulations.
