Johann Andre Forfang's jump was the highlight of Saturday's qualifications for the individual competition at the normal hill during the World Championships in Trondheim. He achieved a distance of 106.5 meters, which also set a new hill record. Watch the spectacular flight of one of the favorites for the gold medal in the upcoming competition on Sunday.
Due to this jump, Forfang won the qualifications ahead of Andreas Wellinger and Daniel Tschofenig. All Polish competitors qualified for the Sunday competition. Paweł Wąsek placed 17th, Aleksander Zniszczoł was 21st, Dawid Kubacki was 22nd, Jakub Wolny 34th, and Piotr Żyła 37th.
The official FIS profile published footage of Forfang’s jump during the qualifications. His attempt received enormous applause from the local audience, and even Forfang clenched his fist in a triumphant gesture, smiling broadly. His team was also pleased.
The Sunday competition will begin at 17:00, broadcast on Eurosport 1 and the MAX platform. We also invite you to follow the updates on One Sports Overview. The trial series will take place at 16:00.
Although the Polish athletes are not among the favorites, they will surely provide the fans with plenty of excitement. It's worth reminding that Piotr Żyła defends his gold medal from the normal hill, which he won two years ago in Planica.
