Alexander Stoeckl, a celebrated name in the world of ski jumping, has officially parted ways with the Norwegian national team after an impressive 13-year tenure. His departure, however, comes amid controversy surrounding his management style, which has faced criticism from some within the ranks of the team.

The discontent began to surface as early as 2018 when athletes voiced their concerns in a letter to the federation. Recently, tensions escalated during the last season, leading to Stoeckl's exclusion from several World Cup events.

In a surprising turn of events, Stoeckl has accepted a new role within the Polish Ski Association as the sports director for ski jumping and Nordic combined, starting in August. This move has been championed by Adam Małysz, who sees Stoeckl's expertise as a valuable asset for the Polish team.

Despite the rocky conclusion to his time with Norway, Arne Baumann, the secretary general of the Norwegian Ski Federation, has acknowledged Stoeckl's significant contributions to the team's achievements. He described Stoeckl as a prominent figure in the annals of Norwegian ski jumping history. Stoeckl is set to be formally introduced to the Polish team during a press conference prior to the FIS Grand Prix event in Wisła.
