Alarming words about the future of ski jumping: 'Last chance'

— These are terrible stories — says Mika Kojonkoski in a conversation with NRK, when asked about the cheating among Norwegian ski jumpers. He reveals which of the confessions surprised him the most. The legend appeals: this is the last chance for the entire system!

The scandal that occurred during the World Championships in Trondheim is still a hot topic. Especially as the cheating of Norwegian ski jumpers has triggered a wave of confessions from other athletes, who openly admitted to cheating. The methods revealed by some were quite shocking.

— Of course, I am a bit surprised by the use of hairspray and such things. These are terrible stories that do not help ski jumping. If one were to go out to a bar in the evening, more of these stories could likely be heard — commented Kojonkoski.

— I think this is definitely the last chance for the whole system to try to find a simple and clear way to enforce the rules — added the legendary coach.

Kojonkoski coached the Norwegian national team from 2002 to 2011, managing to lift the team from a deep crisis to achieve great success.

— Back then, we tried to extract the best from the suits, but in accordance with the rules. The rules are becoming more detailed every year, but teams continue to breach them. Even more rules certainly won’t help ski jumping — he concluded.
