The situation for ski jumping in Poland is becoming alarming. Decreasing interest, due to the underwhelming performance of Polish representatives, is already noticeable by the authorities of the Polish Ski Association. In an interview with sport.interia.pl, Adam Małysz acknowledged that the waning viewership is also influenced by actions from FIS.

As reported by Interia, Poland is no longer the leading market in terms of ski jumping media popularity. According to Nielsen data, Poles recorded a 21 percent drop. Currently, Germany is leading in this aspect, with popularity for the sport increasing by 28 percent.

There is no doubt that the primary reason for the decline in interest in ski jumping in our country is the poorer condition of our representatives, who have already passed their prime careers. "What happened to our jumpers last winter has a large impact on the viewership of ski jumping on television," stated Małysz.

Another factor affecting the diminishing popularity of the sport is FIS's approach. According to the head of PZN, Małysz believes that FIS should do more to engage fans in this sport. He referred to a jump by Ryoyu Kobayashi in Iceland that drew considerable attention. In contrast, FIS prioritizes safety above all, which he feels is detrimental.

The Ski Jumping World Cup season is set to commence on November 22. Who among our representatives will be at the start? "During our second camp on ice tracks, we decided on the lineup for the first competitions that will kick off the World Cup," revealed coach Thomas Thurnbichler in early November. The Polish team will feature Dawid Kubacki, Paweł Wąsek, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Kamil Stoch, and Maciej Kot in the inaugural events at Lillehammer, but unexpectedly, Piotr Żyła will not be included in the squad.
