Alarm in Germany just before the Four Hills Tournament. This season has been so bad

It seemed that the balloon of expectations and hopes for the Four Hills Tournament was already inflated to the limit among Germans. However, following the Sunday competition, some air was let out of it. After very successful weekends, Stefan Horngacher's jumpers experienced a drastic decline.

It is no secret that Germans are crazy about the Golden Eagle. They have been waiting for the trophy awarded to the winner of the Four Hills Tournament since the 2001/02 season, when the legendary Sven Hannawald won.
As the years pass, more great stars emerge from our western neighbor, and there is no shortage of candidates, yet the clock keeps ticking. This year, another hope arose—Pius Paschke, who dominated the first month of the World Cup series. However, in the last check-in before the events in Oberstdorf, the series leader was a shadow of himself.
The leader of the World Cup did not shine. Just like his teammates
Until the competition in Switzerland, Paschke was the only one in the field who had not dropped out of the top ten in any competition. Neither the lottery-like conditions in Ruka scared him. However, it seems that on the Gross-Titlis-Schanze, we saw a decline in form from the World Cup leader.
The first symptoms were noticeable already on Saturday when he took 10th place, the lowest this winter. On Sunday, halfway through, he was only 24th, and a jump in the second series only allowed him to advance to 18th place. It is hard to consider this advance satisfying for the World Cup leader.
Karl Geiger settled just outside the top ten, and significantly lower, in 15th place, was Andreas Wellinger. The other four, namely Stephan Leyhe, Adrian Tittel, Philipp Raimund, and Markus Eisenbichler, finished the competition already after the first series.
This all contributed to just 58 points to the Nations Cup. Considering that with the exception of the last and the previous competition in Wisla (132), the points scored by Germans were in the range of 150-200, this is a very poor result.
Will this also be a worrying prognostic before the start of one of the most important events of the season? We will find out next week in Oberstdorf.
