Ski Jumping

A fantastic jump by Domen Prevc! Just when it seemed that fans wouldn't witness any long jumps in the Sunday competition, the Slovenian, known for his exceptional flying skills, took to the skies. Prevc battled for victory in the Raw Air series on Sunday, and although he didn't achieve that overall win, he triumphed in the competition and set an impressive personal best of 247 m! Watch his fantastic jump.

On the Sunday, the event organizers initially planned to hold a prologue and three series in the men's individual competition at Vikersund. However, the conditions only allowed for a single competition round, which featured 53 competitors because the prologue was canceled.

Several jumpers faced unfavorable and lottery-like conditions, which hampered their performances. This resulted in poor performances from the likes of Maciej Kot and Dawid Kubacki, who couldn't manage even a 150 m jump.

As the competition progressed, the winds calmed, allowing for increasingly longer jumps. Finally, it was Domen Prevc's turn. He had previously flown a remarkable 239 m in the Saturday competition, though without successfully landing it. On Sunday, however, he performed even better and, crucially – landed it.

Domen Prevc outperformed rivals

The Slovenian's leap of 247 m, compared to the earlier attempts by other competitors, stood out significantly. This new personal best confirms Prevc's expertise in ski flying. It is worth mentioning that the world record stands at 253.5 m, so Prevc was not far from reaching that distance.

However, this achievement did not grant him victory in the Raw Air series overall, as that honor went to Andreas Wellinger, who won the Saturday competition and finished second on Sunday, thus becoming the first German to achieve this feat.
