The World Championship in Trondheim showcased the women’s Nordic combined event, which combined a 5 km mass start race with ski jumping. In the competition, the Japanese athletes dominated with Yuna Kasai scoring 121.0 points to take first place, followed closely by Norway’s Gyda Westvold Hansen with 118.7 points, and Haruka Kasai of Japan in third with 115.6 points.
For the Austrian team (ÖSV), the results were disappointing. Their top performer, Lisa Hirner, finished seventh with 105.7 points. Annalena Slamik finished in 13th place, Claudia Purker in 14th, and Katharina Gruber ended up in 22nd place. This meant that the ÖSV women went home without a medal in the Nordic combined event.
The result has raised concerns about the performance of the Austrian team in this international competition, as they struggled to compete against the strong fields from Japan and Norway. Further details and analysis of the championship results are expected to follow in the coming hours.
