Tooth Drama Hampering the Champion

A tooth infection is causing significant distress for Jarl Magnus Riiber. The Norwegian is anxious about his participation in the opening World Cup event for Nordic combined athletes.

Due to the aftermath of surgery for his wisdom teeth, Norway's Nordic combined king Jarl Magnus Riiber may have to forgo the opening round of the World Cup. As reported by the newspaper VG, the 27-year-old is still experiencing issues in his jaw, with a stubborn inflammation troubling the eight-time world champion. The new season for Nordic combined competitors is set to kick off from November 28 to December 1 in Ruka, Finland.

"He had another procedure, and further stitching was required. He's just not ready at the moment," said his sports manager, Ivar Staun, to the Norwegian news agency NTB. Riiber's primary goal now is to be ready for the World Cup opening. However, the main highlight is the World Championships in Norway, which will take place from February 27 to March 8 in Trondheim. "That's what counts," Staun stated.

Nordic Skiing: Jarl Magnus Riiber Also a Record Winner

In recent years, a peak-performing Jarl Magnus Riiber was nearly unbeatable among his competitors. With 61 wins in individual events, he is the record winner. The only major title missing from his collection is Olympic gold, having only secured team silver in 2018 in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
