In the Nordic Combined event held in Zhangjiakou, Japan's Ryota Yamamoto excelled in the ski jumping portion, scoring 133 points with a jump of 108 meters. He will begin the upcoming 10 km race with a notable advantage, starting 33 seconds ahead of Austria's Lukas Greiderer and 40 seconds ahead of Germany's Julian Schmid. The overall leader of the World Cup standings, Austria's Johannes Lamparter, finished fifth and will be starting 1 minute and 4 seconds after Yamamoto. Notably, some key competitors were absent due to COVID-19 isolation. The best French competitor, Matteo Baud, qualified in twelfth place.
