Norwegian skier Jarl Magnus Riiber has achieved an incredible milestone by completing a grand slam at the World Championships held in Planica, Slovenia. He successfully clinched his fourth gold medal in four Nordic combined events at this year’s championships.
After securing titles in the small hill, team events, and mixed-team events, Riiber showcased his dominance in the Nordic combined event on the large hill.
With an impressive jump of 147 meters, he established an impressive 36-second lead over Japan's Ryota Yamamoto before the cross-country skiing segment, which spanned 10 kilometers. Riiber maintained his lead throughout the race, ultimately crossing the finish line ahead of his fellow Norwegian, Jens Luraas Oftebro, and Austria's Johannes Lamparter.
This triumph makes Riiber only the second skier to achieve such a feat in a single World Championship event. The first was Johannes Rydzek in 2017, who secured victories in both individual and team events, in addition to the team sprint event, in Lahti, Finland.
