Postponement of Team Competition: Safety of Athletes is Paramount
Strong winds forced the cancellation of the team competition in the Nordic combined event scheduled for Thursday, with a new date set for Friday. The event was postponed several times ahead of the decision, highlighting ongoing concerns for athlete safety.
The organizers had worked tirelessly to hold the event, but the adverse weather conditions made it increasingly difficult to proceed safely.
New Schedule for Events
The men’s relay in cross-country skiing has also been pushed back by half an hour to 14:30. The audience access to the venue was delayed, causing further complications with timing. As of now, the women's competition will start earlier than planned, while men's qualifications still do not have a new schedule determined.
Officials confirmed that a significant number of spectators would be entering the venue and expressed commitment to ensuring their safety.
Future Competitions
Jarl Magnus Riiber, a standout competitor in this year’s championship, was set to defend his titles, with potential for more medals as the schedule unfolds. Riiber has already claimed gold in two previous events, heightening expectations for his performance as competitions resume.
