Johannes Lamparter has missed out on a podium finish in the individual event of Nordic Combined at the World Championships in Trondheim, finishing fifth. The gold medal was awarded to Jarl Magnus Riiber from Norway, who clinched his tenth gold medal overall at the championships. Lamparter entered the 7.5 km long race as the fourth best jumper but lacked the energy in the final sprint for a medal.
In a race characterized by mild spring temperatures at Granåsen, a five-man lead group formed by the halfway mark, including Riiber, Julian Schmid (GER), Vinzenz Geiger (GER), Lamparter, and Ryota Yamamoto (JPN). The final race saw competing Norwegian Jens Lurås Oftebro and Jörgen Graabak also join the medal contention, with Lamparter unable to keep pace in the decisive moments.
Earlier in the competition, Lamparter participated in a mixed team event that surprisingly secured the bronze medal after a lengthy appeal process over a close finishing sprint against Yamamoto.
