Bronze! But DSV's Appeal Rejected
Kombinierer Vinzenz Geiger won another bronze medal for Germany at the Nordic World Championships. Just a day after earning silver with the German mixed team, he faced tough competition from the Norwegians Jarl Magnus Riiber and Jens Luraas Oftebro.
In the competition, Geiger claimed bronze in the normal hill event at the World Championships in Trondheim 2025. His teammate Julian Schmid finished just off the podium in fourth place. The German team lodged a protest claiming that Oftebro had left the track during his run, but the appeal was quickly dismissed.
Geiger expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, "I had good skis and thought I managed the tactics quite well. I really wanted to win, especially being so close, but I gladly accept the bronze medal."
Riiber Breaks Records
Riiber, who had already won his ninth world title in the mixed team event just the day before, secured his tenth world championship gold. Now aiming for a fifth individual title, he continues to push historical boundaries, with no other kombinierer having achieved four consecutive golds in the same event.
Historic Achievement
According to historical records, four titles on the normal hill have only been achieved by Johann Gröttumsbraten (1924 to 1932) and Ulrich Wehling from East Germany (1972 to 1980).
