In an impressive display, Johannes Rydzek pulled off a surprise win at the Nordic Combined World Cup event in Ruka, achieving the longest jump of the day at 142 meters. After jumping well, he maintained his lead through the 10km cross-country segment, finishing ahead of Norway's Jarl Magnus Riiber. This victory is particularly sweet for Rydzek, as it's his first World Cup win since 2018.

Rydzek's performance is a testament to his hard work and determination, showcasing his ability to bounce back after a challenging previous season. He expressed his joy at finally winning again, stating how thrilling it was to lead from start to finish.

Completing the podium were Julian Schmid in second place and Vinzenz Geiger in third, marking a remarkable achievement for the German team with a clean sweep on the podium. Rydzek, Schmid, and Geiger's results continue to boost the reputation of German athletes in the sport, especially after their last triple victory in Kuusamo three years ago. Head coach Eric Frenzel, who took over earlier this season, couldn’t hide his pride in the athletes’ display, highlighting Rydzek’s impressive journey back to top form.
