Nordic Combined - Lamparter Third at Holmenkollen ++ Hirner Second

The World Cup competitions in Nordic combined at Holmenkollen in Oslo brought two podium finishes for Austria on Saturday!
Johannes Lamparter finished behind German winner Vinzenz Geiger and local star Jarl Magnus Riiber, securing third place just ahead of Franz-Josef Rehrl. In the Women’s event, Lisa Hirner took second place after the Norwegian double world champion Gyda Westvold Hansen.

Lamparter was able to keep pace with the leading duo for a long time, but had to let Geiger and Riiber pull away towards the end of the 10-kilometer cross-country race. He missed first place by 7.3 seconds after being in second place following the jump.

Hirner missed out on victory by 53 seconds but shined on her successful large hill debut. "I had a really good jump; it was really cool," said the two-time bronze medalist from Trondheim. She placed third in the jumping segment with a jump of 123 meters. "This placement is very positive for my self-confidence," the Styrian athlete emphasized.

The second-best Austrian woman was Annalena Slamik in eleventh place, while Claudia Purker finished in fifteenth. Among the men, Stefan Rettenegger finished in 15th place, and Fabio Obermeyr came in 19th.

On Sunday, both men and women will compete in a compact event, which marks the final competition of the season for women. The overall World Cup victory was already secured on Saturday by the 19-year-old German Nathalie Armbruster.
