Nordic Combined Team in Despair After Mysterious Instagram Disappearance: 'It’s a Crisis for Us'
Originally published in Eurosport on February 25, 2025
The Nordic combined team’s Instagram account, with 7200 followers, was suddenly deactivated without warning. On Tuesday, users found that the account was inaccessible – a status that had persisted since Monday.
Sport manager Ivar Stuan initially took a humorous tone about the situation, remarking, “We are used to black screens, and now social media is down too. It’s the World Championships of paradoxes.” However, he quickly acknowledged the severe impact of the incident. Stuan explained that the team employs dedicated staff to manage their social media, and losing their most important communication channel is a major crisis for the sport.
At present, neither Stuan nor his team have a clear explanation as to why the account has been blocked or deactivated. The national ski federation has not been able to reach Meta, the owner of Instagram, for clarification. The incident comes at a time when the Nordic combined team is already facing challenges with broadcast coverage, making every channel essential for increasing the sport’s profile.
