Johannes Lamparter cruised to victory in Lahti, further extending his lead in the World Cup standings against Julian Schmid. This win is his second of the season, and it adds to an impressive overall performance in the series.
In a challenging race affected by windy conditions, the ski jumping segment was canceled after just 20 athletes competed. Therefore, results from the provisional competition round (PCR) were used to set starting positions for the cross-country.
Schmid and Lamparter faced off just eight seconds apart at the start of the cross-country race, with Lamparter quickly closing the gap and eventually breaking away to secure a comfortable lead. He finished the race in 23:59.4, 27.4 seconds ahead of Herola, who managed to grab second place. Schmid settled for third, adding to his season’s podium count but finding it increasingly difficult to catch Lamparter in the overall race.
“This win holds great significance as I felt in excellent form throughout the race,” said Lamparter, attributing his success to favorable skiing conditions.
