Johannes Lamparter secured victory on Saturday at the World Cup stage in Klingenthal, Germany, which featured a large hill jumping event followed by a 10 km cross-country ski race. He finished just 0.3 seconds ahead of Estonian Kristjan Ilves and 0.7 seconds ahead of Japanese competitor Ryota Yamamoto. This win marks Lamparter's second of the season, following his triumph at Val di Fiemme the previous weekend.
The absence of Jarl Magnus Riiber, the leader of the World Cup standings who is dealing with back pain, allowed Lamparter to catch up and tie at the top of the leaderboard. Edgar Vallet was the highest-ranked French competitor, finishing in 43rd place on Saturday.
