Originally published in L'Équipe on February 03, 2024
Norwegian skier Jarl Magnus Riiber has once again showcased his exceptional talent by winning the Nordic combined World Cup event in Seefeld, Austria. Despite facing fierce competition, Riiber held onto his lead after a strong performance in the ski jumping segment earlier in the day.
In the subsequent cross-country race, he put on an impressive display, outpacing his competitors and finishing 22.7 seconds ahead of fellow Norwegian Jörgen Graabak, who claimed second place, with Jens Luraas Oftebro not far behind in third, finishing 23.4 seconds after Riiber.
This victory represents Riiber's ninth win of the season, further emphasizing his dominance in the world of Nordic skiing. Meanwhile, French athlete Mattéo Baud also made waves with a solid performance, finishing in ninth place. This follows his impressive eighth-place finish from the day before, where he climbed from 16th place after the ski jumping portion. Baud's rising consistency suggests that he may be on the brink of greater achievements in his skiing career.
