Norwegian athlete Jarl Magnus Riiber, a standout in the world of Nordic combined, secured his second victory of the weekend at the World Cup event held in Ruka, Finland. He claimed triumph in the large hill event on Sunday, further solidifying his status as a formidable competitor.

This Ruka World Cup, marking the season's opener, reached its conclusion on Sunday with Riiber at the helm. After already celebrating a win the previous day, this eight-time world champion and reigning four-time World Cup titleholder showcased his exceptional skills in the 10 km mass start and large hill ski jumping competition.

In a thrilling start to the day, Riiber finished second in the morning’s race, trailing slightly behind German skier Vinzenz Geiger, who crossed the finish line just 0.3 seconds ahead. However, Geiger's performance in the ski jump did not match his earlier pace, resulting in a disappointing 16th place overall. Riiber delivered an impressive jump of 153.5 meters, amassing a total of 173.8 points and effectively distancing himself from the competition. Austrian Johannes Lamparter, who placed second, managed a jump of 134.5 meters, collecting 152.2 points.

Completing the podium was another Austrian, Stefan Rettenegger, with a score of 145.7 points. Despite showing promise with a ski jump of 140 meters that earned him second place in that segment, Franz-Josef Rehrl finished eighth overall, hindered by his 31st place finish in the mass start. The highest-ranked French competitor, Matteo Baud, ended the event in 18th position.
