Jarl Magnus Riiber sat on the toilet moments before the start in Ruka: – I have lost a lot of blood.
Kombinertstjerne Jarl Magnus Riiber is facing serious health issues as he reports persistent gastrointestinal bleeding and is unsure of the cause.
During the competition in Ruka, Finland, while fellow competitors warmed up, Riiber had to take time to address his distress.
"Before the long distance event today, I sat for 15 minutes right before the start while others were warming up. I was dealing with my situation," Riiber told NRK.
He has suffered from various injuries during his career, including weeks of health issues, but this recent episode has added a new layer of difficulties to his already challenging regimen. Despite this, Riiber has performed admirably, winning multiple events up until now, including securing victories across a series of races.
"I have lost a lot of blood over the weekend, so it's no wonder my performance has declined. I’ve been feeling weaker with every passing day, and it's essential to address these health issues before continuing to compete."
Looking ahead, Riiber expresses commitment to competing in the World Cup next weekend at Lillehammer, provided his condition stabilizes. However, he acknowledges that his food intake has been affected significantly, leading to increased fatigue.
