Jarl Magnus Riiber has received confirmation regarding the source of his recent health challenges, revealing that he has been diagnosed with inflammation in the stomach following medical examinations. "Now we can start addressing it," Riiber mentioned in an interview.
Team doctor Anders Heen commented on Riiber's condition, stating that the athlete is undergoing an anti-inflammatory regimen with expectations for gradual improvement of his symptoms toward the New Year.
This treatment is scheduled to last for eight weeks. Still, Riiber intends to compete in the upcoming World Cup races in Lillehammer, depending on how his body reacts to the medical treatment. Riiber had previously shared concerns about experiencing blood in his stool without knowing the cause. He noted that many amateur doctors had offered advice, but he is relieved to finally receive definitive answers from medical professionals.
"I hoped it would pass and heal on its own, but that hasn’t been the case, and it has only gotten worse during competition," he admitted, indicating that the treatment would require patience from both him and the coaching staff.
Heen assured that while there may be fluctuations in Riiber's daily form during the initial phase of treatment, the hope is that his fitness leading up to the World Championships won't be significantly compromised. Riiber now requires rest and a calm training period to regain his strength as the weekend approaches.
