Jarl Magnus Riiber emerged victorious on Saturday at the Nordic Combined World Cup event in Schonach, Germany. With this win, he reclaimed the lead in the overall standings just before the season's conclusion.

The Norwegian athlete had previously held the lead from late November to early January but had missed two rounds due to back pain, allowing Johannes Lamparter of Austria to take the top position.

At the competition, Riiber finished ahead of Lamparter, who was 38.1 seconds behind, while his fellow countryman Joergen Graabak secured third place, trailing by 44.2 seconds. The first French competitor, Antoine Gérard, finished in 19th place, over two minutes behind.

In the World Cup standings, Riiber now leads Lamparter by a slim margin, with the final event scheduled for Sunday.

Riiber's triumph also drew attention to the women’s competition, where Japan's Anju Nakamura claimed victory. She outpaced compatriot Haruka Kasai by 11.1 seconds, with Italian Annika Sieff coming in third. Notably, Norway's Gyda Westvold Hansen, the leader of the women's World Cup, did not finish the race.
