
Riiber and Hagen Dominate World Cup Event in Schonach

Norwegian athletes showcased their dominance this weekend at the World Cup event in Schonach, Germany. On Saturday, Jarl Magnus Riiber and Mari Leinan Lund each claimed victory in their respective competitions. The excitement continued on Sunday, as Riiber repeated his success while Ida Marie Hagen secured first place in the women's event.
Jarl Magnus Riiber, a star in the Nordic combined arena, is no stranger to victory. With an impressive roster that includes eight world championship titles and four overall World Cup victories, he added yet another triumph to his collection this winter—his eighth win of the season. In the cross-country segment, Riiber outpaced his competitor Joergen Graabak, finishing 33.2 seconds ahead, while Austria's Stefan Rettenegger trailed him by 53.5 seconds. Laurent Muhlethaler of France finished in 15th place, coming in 2 minutes and 12.6 seconds behind.
In the women's competition, after finishing second on Saturday, Ida Marie Hagen surged to first on Sunday. She crossed the finish line 37.8 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, Mari Leinan Lund, and left Gyda Westvold Hansen trailing by 1 minute and 3.1 seconds. French skier Léna Brocard had a remarkable outing, narrowly missing the podium with a fourth-place finish, concluding her race 2 minutes and 0.6 seconds behind, which marks her best performance in a World Cup event so far.
