Heavy snowfall and unsafe conditions halt combined events in Ramsau – both ski jumping competitions canceled

Heavy snowfall and unsafe conditions led to the cancellation of both ski jumping events for Nordic combined athletes in Ramsau. The decision came after several test jumpers struggled with the conditions, which made it hazardous. The competition organizers previously anticipated that the day might be challenging for the events.
Gyda Westvold Hansen was particularly affected by the cancellation, as she had performed well in the earlier cross-country skiing segment but faced disqualification from a previous jump, which would have provided her a great opportunity to compete for a win. Ultimately, safety concerns outweighed the desire to proceed with the events, marking a disappointing day for the competitors.
The International Ski Federation's event director, Lasse Ottesen, emphasized the difficulties stemming from the new snow, which interfered with ski performance, citing safety as the primary concern in their decision to cancel both the women's and men's events.
