FIS | Hansen aims to extend Lillehammer run in women’s season opener

Gyda Westvold Hansen has won all six women's World Cup events in Lillehammer. Two-time World Cup champion Hansen is aiming to maintain her success in Lillehammer as it hosts the start of the upcoming season.

Hansen boasts an impressive record with her six wins from six events over the past three seasons, barring a cancellation in 2020 due to the pandemic. The 22-year-old champion, who previously took home the overall title multiple times, has overcome health issues that burdened her in the last season, finishing second behind compatriot Ida Marie Hagen.

Expressing confidence in her preparations and training regime, Hansen is enthusiastic about competing against the increasing number of strong contenders this season, including Hagen and other German athletes. The women's events this weekend will consist of a provisional round followed by a traditional Gundersen and the first women's Compact competition.

On the men's side, Jarl Magnus Riiber looks to assert his dominance amid a competitive German squad as they prepare for their events this weekend.

Yardsticks from past performances, including Riiber's successes and Hagen's earlier victories, set the stage for an exciting weekend of Nordic combined action in Lillehammer.
