Germany is poised to seize gold after an unfortunate setback for Norway, who faces a significant disadvantage as the competition progresses into the crucial cross-country phase. The issue arose when Norwegian ski jumper Jörgen Graabak’s result was invalidated due to a non-compliant binding, causing the previously favored Norwegian team to fall to fifth place.
Germany, now in second place, trails the leading Austrians by just two seconds, making for an exciting finish to the competition.
Vinzenz Geiger and his teammates Julian Schmid, Johannes Rydzek, and Wendelin Thannheimer, who had originally been 22 seconds behind the Norwegians, are eager to capitalize on this opportunity. Rydzek reflected on the deep talent pool from Oberstdorf, noting the blend of experience across generations in their team.
The team event had to be postponed to Friday due to a storm hitting Trondheim, originally scheduled for Thursday. The tension builds as the German team prepares for the upcoming 4x5 km relay, set to start at 15:30 local time.
