Gerboth Achieves Strong Fifth Place in Lillehammer

Maria Gerboth, 22, led after the jumping segment but finished fifth in the Women's Nordic Combined World Cup opener in Lillehammer. After a jump of 96.5 meters, she went into the 5km cross-country race with an eight-second lead over Austria's Lisa Hirner. However, she finished 1:28.3 minutes behind winner Ida Marie Hagen, who secured her fifth consecutive victory.

This performance marks Gerboth's best World Cup result, showing great potential for the rest of the season. Hagen’s victory also highlights Norway's dominance in women's Nordic combined, marking their 27th consecutive triumph since March 2022. Gyda Westvold Hansen and Lisa Hirner rounded out the podium, while the reigning vice-world champion Nathalie Armbruster finished in seventh after struggling with her jump while dealing with pre-exam stress.
