In an exhilarating finale, Vinzenz Geiger and Julian Schmid claimed victory at the Nordic combined World Cup event in Lillehammer on Sunday. The race, which featured a new Individual Compact format, came down to a nail-biting sprint to the finish line.

Geiger and Schmid crossed the line together, with Geiger narrowly taking the win ahead of his teammate following a photo finish. Both athletes started the race trailing behind Norway's Jarl Magnus Riiber, who was leading after the ski jump.

The final showdown on the ski trail featured an intense six-person group that had formed during the first lap, including both Germans and other competitors. Riiber initially led but, recognizing the strong competition from Geiger and Schmid towards the end, ultimately conceded the victory.

The top performance by the German team was rounded off by Manuel Faißt, who finished in eighth, while Johannes Rydzek demonstrated remarkable resilience, finishing strong in 11th despite a poor jumping performance.

This race was an exciting follow-up to their podium finishes in Ruka and further cements the promise of the German team in the ongoing season.
