Jarl Magnus Riiber showcased his incredible talent by dominating the Nordic combined World Cup this past winter, clinching victory in 16 out of 19 events. This outstanding achievement not only secured him the overall championship but also a substantial financial reward.

The 26-year-old athlete amassed nearly 200,000 Swiss francs from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), which translates to approximately 2.4 million Norwegian kroner. This impressive figure represents a significant personal earnings record for Riiber.

To put his success in perspective, in the remarkable 2019/20 season, Riiber's earnings totaled 163,200 Swiss francs, or around 2 million Norwegian kroner by today’s conversion rates. This year, he has comfortably surpassed his previous record.

When comparing earnings among Norwegian winter sports athletes, few can rival Riiber’s prize money from the season's competitions. While cross-country skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo earned 3.92 million kroner and biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø topped the list with around 5 million kroner, Riiber's accomplishments in Nordic combined remain particularly impressive.

On the women's side, combined skier Ida Marie Hagen had a successful season as well, accumulating nearly 1 million kroner in prize money. In contrast, the seasoned champion Gyda Westvold Hansen experienced a slight dip in her earnings this season, adding just under 600,000 Norwegian kroner to her total.

In other sports, Swiss alpine skiing star Marco Odermatt leads the pack, having earned 9.64 million kroner as he approaches his final race weekend of the season.

Looking ahead, Riiber is expected to undergo knee surgery soon, although the duration of his recovery remains uncertain.
