Claudia Purker, the Nordic combined athlete from Pongau, achieved her best World Cup result to date in Otepää, Estonia by finishing in fifth place. In the cross-country part of the competition, she pushed herself to the limit and secured her position as the best Austrian, finishing fifth in the 5 km course.
After a previous Top-Ten finish in Seefeld – where she placed seventh – this result marks her second strong showing this season. Purker expressed her excitement, saying, "I’m mega happy. It was a really cool day," and she credited her coach for planning her training schedule. The impressive performance is seen as a significant boost in her form ahead of the World Championships in Trondheim.
In the men’s section, Johannes Lamparter also finished fifth, while two other Austrians, Thomas Rettenegger and Fabio Obermeyr, secured ninth and tenth places respectively. Additionally, the German Vinzenz Geiger managed to edge out Norway’s Jarl Magnus Riiber in a dramatic final sprint to claim victory.
