Originally published in Eurosport on December 07, 2024
In the Nordic Combined event at Lillehammer, Jarl Magnus Riiber demonstrated his dominance after a strong performance in the jumping phase, followed by a confident run in the cross-country segment. Riiber, who had concerns about his fitness, managed to maintain a significant lead over competitors Julian Schmid and Johannes Lamparter, finishing 36.7 seconds ahead. He described the race as a casual ‘cruise’ after overcoming initial challenges.
Ida Marie Hagen continued her impressive streak by winning her second consecutive race of the weekend. After climbing to the lead shortly into the cross-country portion, she extended her advantage to finish comfortably ahead of her closest competitor. Both athletes’ performances underscored their strong positions in the ongoing Nordic Combined season, with further competitions scheduled shortly after this event.
