FIS | COC: Maurus wins Gundersen in Eisenerz

Sophia Maurus emerged as the winner of the women’s first FIS Continental Cup Individual Gundersen competition in Eisenerz, Austria.

The competition began with an impressive Ski Jumping round on the HS109. Austria’s Anna-Sophia Gredler delivered the longest jump of the day, soaring 100.5 meters to earn 123.1 points. This performance secured her the lead and made her the first to start the 5 km cross-country race.

France’s Romane Baud claimed second place after jumping, reaching 99 meters for 121.1 points, and began the race just 8 seconds behind Gredler. German athlete Sophia Maurus landed a jump of 93.5 meters, earning 116.4 points, which placed her third and 27 seconds behind the leader.

During the cross-country race, Maurus showcased her exceptional skiing skills, closing the gap to the front and taking the lead. With a commanding performance, she built a significant margin over her competitors and crossed the finish line 27.5 seconds ahead of Gredler, who successfully held onto second place.

Slovenia’s Tia Malovrh delivered a remarkable cross-country performance, climbing from 7th place after the jumping round to finish 3rd, 32.4 seconds behind Maurus.

Germany’s Marie Naehring recorded the fastest skiing time of the day, completing the course in 14:37 minutes. Her strong effort moved her from 20th place after jumping to finish 13th overall.
