Nathalie Armbruster emerged victorious in the women's final competition of the 2024 Summer Grand Prix held in Chaux-Neuve.

Amid clear, blue skies, the day began with Svenja Würth taking the lead after an impressive performance in the Ski Jumping event at La Côte Feuillée, where she achieved the longest jump of the day at 105.5 meters (109.2 points). This strong showing allowed her to start first in the subsequent 6 km roller ski race.

Following Würth in the jump standings was Finland's Minja Korhonen, who took second place with a jump of 104.5 meters (106.4 points), starting just 6 seconds behind Würth according to the fixed starting times set by the Compact race format. Yesterday's winner, Jenny Nowak, also recorded a jump of 104.5 meters (104.2 points), placing her third and 12 seconds off the lead.

As the roller ski race commenced, Korhonen quickly caught up with Würth, and the duo soon faced strong competition from Nowak and Armbruster, who charged forward from behind. By the 2 km mark, Armbruster had taken the lead, while Nowak was close behind at 0.6 seconds, followed by Würth (2.4 seconds) and Korhonen (2.7 seconds).

Ema Volavsek also showcased a solid skiing performance, narrowing the gap to the leaders to 7.6 seconds. Unfortunately, both Würth and Korhonen fell behind during the second lap, which allowed Volavsek to close in on the leading duo of Armbruster and Nowak.

As the race reached its final lap, the weather turned drastically with heavy rain making the asphalt treacherous, resulting in several crashes. Korhonen, like Würth, was among those who fell, jeopardizing her chances for a podium finish.

Fortunately, the leading trio navigated through the last corner before the rain intensified. Armbruster seized the opportunity to launch her attack on the final climb, creating a gap between herself and the competitors.

She crossed the finish line, celebrating her second FIS Summer Grand Prix victory, finishing 2.1 seconds ahead of Ema Volavsek, who took second place, while Jenny Nowak finished third, 8.2 seconds behind.

With her podium finish, Nowak clinched the Overall Summer Grand Prix title, outperforming both Ema Volavsek and Nathalie Armbruster for the overall honors.
