Anger at the World Championships - "Disgusting!" Riiber Attacks the German Team

Jarl Magnus Riiber

During the Nordic combined contest at the World Championships, Jarl Magnus Riiber emerged victorious in a photo finish, but his success was overshadowed by a protest from the German team. After the race, the German Ski Federation (DSV) lodged a protest claiming that his competitor Jens Luras Oftebro had exceeded the track limits, but this was quickly dismissed by the judges.

Riiber expressed his dismay in an interview with Dagbladet, stating, "It is truly disgusting when such behavior occurs in sports. How can one act like this and not exhibit sportsmanship?" His teammate, Oftebro, echoed similar sentiments, accusing the Germans of attempting to gain an unfair advantage with their protest.

Despite the controversy surrounding the event, Riiber's win marked his tenth gold medal at the championships, solidifying his position at the top of the sport.
