“Wonderful!” - Ruka: Moser sprints to best World Cup result

Benjamin Moser achieved a personal best result in his career during the cross-country sprint World Cup in Ruka. The 27-year-old Tyrolean finished second in the qualifiers, won his quarter-final heat, but finished fourth in his semi-final heat, 1.36 seconds behind heat winner Marcus Grate from Sweden, which placed him eighth overall, surpassing his previous best of tenth place.

Moser expressed his joy in an ORF interview, stating, "I’m really happy; such a season start is of course wonderful." He hadn’t entirely expected this outcome but felt confident going into the competition. "The prologue, or qualification, was really amazing," he said, noting that only Norway's top star and later winner Johannes Høsflot Kläbo was faster than him in that round.

Moser credited his service team for providing an excellent setup, referring to his skis as a “rocket.” He acknowledged that the difference in performance was his need to be quicker on the final climbs, something he plans to work on moving forward. His goal for the season is to reach the finals in future competitions.
