Originally published in Yle on November 07, 2024
Winter skiing has officially started in Jyväskylä’s Laajavuori, with an artificial snow track opened to skiers on Wednesday evening. Despite the unseasonably warm temperatures for November, the track drew a significant crowd, with dozens of skiers present early Thursday morning.
Paavo Brunner, one of the first skiers, shared his excitement after completing a ten-kilometer session on the new track. He noted the excellent conditions of the trail, which is 1.7 kilometers long and made from preserved snow. This marks the 15th year that Laajavuori has built an artificial snow track, and local skiers appreciated the smooth surface and good grip of the snow.
