Originally published in SVT Sport on December 07, 2024
Kristine Stavås Skistad was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the sprint event in Lillehammer. After a strong showing that secured her a third place in the qualifying rounds, she faced tough competition in her quarter-final heat. Ultimately, she finished behind fellow competitor Jonna Sundling and Germany's Victoria Carl, who advanced to the semifinals. Following the race, Skistad chose to quickly leave the venue and declined to give interviews, mentioning she needs to focus on her training instead. This follows her recent recovery from abdominal surgery, which had already caused her to miss the season opener in Ruka. Coach Lage Sofienlund mentioned that it is unlikely fans will see her perform this poorly again.
