Tough Return for Johaug in Tour de Ski – Out of Sprint Opening
Originally published in Eurosport on December 28, 2024
This year's Tour de Ski sees a challenging return for Therese Johaug, as she misses the knockout stages of the sprint event after a disappointing performance during the prologue. In contrast, other top Norwegian sprinters advanced, including Helene Marie Fossesholm, who clocked an impressive sixth place.
Johaug, seeded last for the prologue, was unable to make it into the top 30 necessary for earning bonus seconds to carry forward into the tour. The upcoming knockout rounds will commence at 14:30. In preceding seasons, Johaug has been a formidable force and a previous champion of the Tour de Ski. With this year's competition heating up, fans and experts alike had high hopes for her comeback.
