Trondheim, Norway, is gearing up for the peak of the Nordic skiing season as it hosts the World Championships 2025. The event – featuring cross-country skiing, ski jumping, and combined competitions – is expected to deliver an abundance of medals for the home team, with Norwegians eagerly anticipating the festivities.
According to event director Åge Skinstad, approximately 192,000 of the 220,000 tickets were sold on Monday alone. “Our goal was to sell 200,000 tickets before the competition begins and we dream of reaching 220,000, although that will likely depend on the weather,” he told the Norwegian news agency NTB.
Most of the events, particularly in cross-country and ski jumping, are already sold out; however, some tickets remain for the upcoming weekend’s combined events, where men will compete on Saturday and women on Sunday. With nearly 2,500 volunteers on board, the championships kick off on Wednesday with preliminary cross-country races, followed on Thursday by sprint events as well as the women’s combined relay. The championships will conclude on March 9.
