Norwegian cross-country skiing queen Therese Johaug has returned to the racing tracks for this season with the aim of adding more medals to her already overflowing collection from the World Championships at home in Trondheim.
The 50 km race at the Trondheim World Championships, which were set to conclude on March 9, was initially meant to be the final challenge of her illustrious career. However, Johaug revealed in an interview with Norway’s NRK that the prospect of competing in the World Cup event at Holmenkollen is too appealing to pass up.
“In my home turf of Holmenkollen, I would really like to take part,” Johaug stated, hinting that the world cup meet might mark the end of her career journey.
Johaug also confirmed that she will not be seen at next year’s Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics. The renowned athlete, who is also a mother to young Kristin, expressed her wish for her daughter to have siblings in the future.
This decision marks a significant turning point as Johaug balances her passion for the sport with her plans for family life.
