Therese Johaug Selected for Norway's National Team
Therese Johaug will be included in the Norwegian national team for the next season. However, this does not mean that it is confirmed that the cross-country skiing star will continue to compete.
– I have asked for more time before making a definitive decision, she stated in a press release.
Johaug had previously mentioned that she would decide about her future before Easter, but she has not reached a final conclusion yet.
– I am tired after a long and eventful season and feel that I'm not ready to make a decision about the future right now, she said in a press release.
The Federation's Position
Despite her uncertainty, she will be part of the Norwegian team list to be presented on Monday, according to the Norwegian Ski Federation.
– Therese will be given the time she needs, and we do not want to pressure her in any way regarding such an important decision. Naturally, we hope that she continues and want to give her the opportunity to do so, but this is something she must decide for herself, said the federation's cross-country chief, Cathrine Instebø.
Johaug made a comeback for the past season after two years away from the sport, but she said that it was only a temporary return for this season. Despite initially standing firm on this, she now hints at the potential for extending her career through the Olympics in Italy next season.
