Norwegian cross-country skiing star Therese Johaug, 36, and Swedish athlete Ebba Andersson received yellow cards for skating in a prohibited area during the Tour de Ski. Johaug is currently placed sixth overall after two races.

Johaug, who returned to the international stage, acknowledged her mistake and accepted the warning but expressed annoyance, highlighting that in the men's race the same restricted area wasn't enforced.

"Why should it be changed for men? We're going to bring this up with the jury," Johaug asserted on Monday.

She is currently 1 minute and 14 seconds behind U.S. skier Jessie Diggins, who leads the Tour, and 36 seconds behind Kerttu Niskanen who is in second place. The Tour continues on Tuesday with a 20-kilometer free technique individual start race.

Overall, Johaug's path forward in the competition has been hampered by this warning, which could lead to a substantial time penalty if received again.
