Therese Johaug and Ebba Andersson have been penalized after a close race in the Tour de Ski. Jessie Diggins displayed remarkable performance, winning the 15-kilometer race with a strong finish in Toblach. After the race, both Johaug and Andersson received a yellow card for staking in a zone where diagonal skiing was required. Johaug admitted her mistake, stating, "I’m sure I deserve it. If I got it, that’s probably correct. I need to be careful in the next classic race." If they receive another warning during the Tour, they could face disqualification or a three-minute time penalty.
In the race, Astrid Øyre Slind narrowly defeated Heidi Weng for third, while Kerttu Niskanen secured second place behind Diggins. Johaug finished sixth, and the penalties brought attention to the importance of following competition rules.
Monday will be a rest day in the Tour. The next event is the 20-kilometer interval start race on New Year’s Eve. (©NTB/Max)
