The ski season in South Savo opens in Tanhuvaara
The ski season in South Savo will kick off at the Tanhuvaara Sports Institute. Chief Executive Officer Mika Tuononen expects a busy day on the first snow track as winter activities commence. The snowy conditions are encouraging, with a forecast of snowfall arriving this weekend, particularly on Friday and Saturday.
Tuononen visited the tracks early on Friday morning and confirmed that preparations are on schedule.
- "The weather forecast looks favorable for the track. Last autumn, the trail opened at the same time. If you're planning to prepare the track, you can't delay the launch too much," he says.
Tuononen anticipates that the skiing track will see plenty of use on the opening day, with many season passes having been sold ahead of time. Last season, the Tanhuvaara track was still open for skiing in April.
For skiing fans, there is also an opportunity to watch the Finnish Cup starting in Vuokatti this weekend. Yle’s Sports Studio will be live from Vuokatti starting at 11:45 am on Saturday on TV2.
