The preparation of ski tracks has begun - skiing is possible in both Kotka and Kouvola

The preparation of ski tracks has begun in Kymenlaakso due to recent snowfall. Cities like Kouvola are currently working on leveling the snow and setting up the bases for ski tracks. The snow accumulation has surpassed thirty centimeters over the past weekend, and track creation is proceeding gradually. According to Kirke Roosin, the Director of Sports Facilities, more snow and sustained cold temperatures are required before all tracks can be fully operational.
Currently, several areas are ready for skiing, including a 3-km loop in Kouvola at Anjala and Valkiala, with the latter having temporarily waived track fees. Meanwhile, Kotka has also prepared its Honkala trail, which is approximately 3.5 km long, but progress is slower due to changing weather conditions. While more snow and colder weather are expected, track conditions can be monitored on the cities' websites for updates on skiing opportunities.
