Simen Hegstad Krüger was visibly upset after falling in Saturday's Tour de Ski race, leading to a major time loss and dashing his hopes for a top position. After falling just 3.5 kilometers into the race, he finished 4 minutes and 29 seconds behind the winner, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo.
He stated, "It’s frustrating. It was just my own fault this time. I got caught in one of the grooves. I thought I could recover quickly but ended up cramping all the way to my stomach and couldn’t catch my breath properly.”
Krüger, who currently sits 7 minutes and 10 seconds behind Klæbo overall, is expected to start in Sunday’s final leg. Although he sustained a muscular injury, team doctor Ove Feragen reported that it’s manageable. Klæbo has an impressive lead in the overall standings, indicating a comfortable path to victory as the Tour de Ski approaches its conclusion.
