Swedish Team for the World Championships in Cross-Country Skiing in Trondheim

The Swedish team for the World Championships in cross-country skiing has been announced ahead of the competition in Trondheim. During a broadcast from the national championships week, team manager Anders Byström presented the long-awaited squad and confirmed that the team will keep a few reserve names viable.

Among the selected athletes are established medal contenders – Jonna Sundling, Frida Karlsson, and Ebba Andersson – along with this season’s standout, Edvin Anger, and the veteran Calle Halfvarsson. Anders Byström also noted that Emil Danielsson has made a breakthrough in the sprint events.

Although Moa Lundgren, who earned a relay silver at the national championships with Åsarna, was not selected, she remains in contention for future inclusion due to her personal commitment to competing over multiple distances. In addition, coach Byström reassured fans about Linn Svahn’s condition, highlighting that she is training and expected to compete in Falun next weekend before the team enters a pre-camp phase leading up to the championships starting on February 27.

The championships kick off with the sprint competitions for both women and men, and Sweden is well-positioned to contend for medals. Reserve athletes, such as Märta Rosenberg and Moa Lundgren, are being considered in case of injuries or illnesses.
