Cross-country skiing: Swedish Sprint Success - Victory After Powerful Surge
In Davos, a Swedish success unfolded in the sprint relay as Emma Ribom and Jonna Sundling claimed the World Cup title. The competition was tight for a long time, but Sundling made a powerful surge in the final stretch, finishing 3.7 seconds ahead of the second-placed team.
"We are really happy," Sundling told SVT Sport. "We were nervous about the altitude, which usually poses a little problem, but today felt great. It’s fun to ski and to do it together with Emma."
In the final stretch, Sundling made a bold move that secured their lead. "I thought this is the moment. It was a great time to push during the last lap. I had planned to press on when I felt strong, and it worked perfectly for me," she commented.
Ribom expressed admiration for Sundling's performance. "I saw it. It was impressive. Not the first time I've glimpsed her doing such a surge. She is really remarkable," Ribom stated.
Norge took the second place, while Switzerland secured the third. Sweden's second team, consisting of Ingrid Hallquist and Ebba Stenman, ended in the 15th and last place.
